Carlson Wagonlit Travel

Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) has been operating since 1994, the point at which two industry giants, Carlson Companies and Accor S.A., combined their respective travel companies (Carlson Travel Network and Wagon-lits Travel) in a 50/50 joint venture.  In 2006, Carlson Companies and OEP, a private equity affiliate of JPMorgan Chase & Co., acquired Accor’s share of Carlson Wagonlit Travel.  At the same time, CWT acquired Navigant International, based in Denver, Colorado. 

Navigant International began in 1998 when the owners of more than 35 of the most successful travel management companies in the U.S., South America, Canada, and the United Kingdom (some more than 50 years old) merged into a single public offering.  At the point it merged with CWT, Navigant was among the three largest travel management companies in the United States with $6.5 billion in global sales.

Following a decade of strong organic growth, new sales, and strategic acquisitions, CWT today is the world’s largest wholly owned travel management company.
